Ring out the old

In the famous words of Alfred Tennyson, “Ring out the old, ring in the new.” I just turned 61, so old has a new meaning for me. Ring out the old, means to put behind us, our old mental models, our bad habits, our prejudices. We need to bring in the new. Become kinder, more generous to others and focus on doing what’s right.

“Ring out the false, ring in the true.” Ring out the false, the lies and the wrong way of doing things. Don’t be the person people want you to be. It’s not being true to yourself. Instead, bring in the truth. Become the leader and person you were designed to be. Be an authentic leader by identifying your strengths, passions, motivations and then leveraging them. Focus on developing them further and become distinctive.
